Faridah hosts key Inter Masjid Quran Competitions

A total of 200 young Muslim youths have benefitted from a three day intensive Quran memorization competition which has not only exposed them to knowledge about the holy book but also empowered them in terms of shaping their morals and discipline.

The development came to light during the climax of the Kawempe North inter villages mosque Quran competitions   held at Mbogo Mosque grounds in Kawempe on Sunday 14th September 2025 fully sponsored by Hajjati Farida Nambi .

Participants walked away with an assortment of gifts, including Television sets, cash prizes, and a trip to the holy land of Mecca.

The chief guest was the Kampala district deputy super supreme kadhi sheikh Ssetaba Hamis who congratulated the winners for achieving this milestone saying   such competitions are unique and instrumental in empowering the participants with knowledge about the holy Quran such that they can appreciate it and enforce the commands embedded into it.

He commended Hajjati Farida Nambi who is the NRM parliamentary flag bearer aspirant for Kawempe North constituency for sponsoring the event saying she has challenged many resource sound Muslims tycoons who have never cared to hold such a program enriched with strong Quran messages for the young people.

Ssetaba urged all the positive minded citizens of Kawempe North to consider or reward Hon. Nambi for the unique gesture of a heart and soul touching activity because it was worth a product for the Muslim ummah adding that super supreme mufti was appreciative of her gesture.

Nambi in her brief remarks urged all the political leaders within the division including his immediate opponent Hon.Erias Luyimbaazi Nalukoola, the incumbent area MP and former area MP Hon. Latif Ssebagala and current area Mayor Dr. Emmanuel Serunjogi to deliberately put aside their political hats and join her in planning for the development of the Mbogo burial site which is the original location were Islam started in Uganda.  

‘Am happy to invite and  ready to work with all political leaders within this division and other places to see that we jointly put aside our different political hats and plan for the development of this Mbogo burial site which is a Muslim historical site with a view of turning it into a tourist attraction site’ she noted.

She congratulated Abubaker Mutebi  Ali from the Masjid Faatwaimah Kisowera zone for being the overall winner of this highly competitive encounter and offered him a fully expenses paid trip to make Umrah, being transported by Mihraab travels Ltd. The competitions included Tilaawa [Quran recitation], Hifuthu [Quran memorization and Hadith [Prophetic traditions among other subjects.
