Kawempe youth lobby for funds to Kick out Poverty in Kampala

The Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja Musafiri is set to preside over the official launch of the Kicking Out Poverty Kampala Community-based organizations CBO SACCO, which comprises 73 economic empowerment groups within Kampala district.

The remarks were over the weekend made by the SACCO national Coordinator   Ssebagala Robert Kizza during their strategic planning meeting and fundraiser for the event held at Kazo in Kawempe division at which the Kawempe south NRM party flag bearer Hajjati Madina Nsereko Ntale attended.

Ssebagala, who is the aspiring NRM lord councilor candidate for Kawempe south flanked by his general secretary Bernard Muhwezi    told the over 60 members and guests that they have invited the Rt Hon Prime minister Robinah Nabbanja to officiate at the launch event to take place at Kawempe grower’s grounds in Bwaise on Wednesday 17th September 2025.  

He noted that the objective of the launch was to popularize their 3,368 member SACCO by sharing their challenges with the government such that support can be offered to fight household poverty.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during the bye election campaigns for the Kawempe North parliamentary candidate Faridah Nambi appointed both Nambi and her   Kawempe South counterpart Hajjati Madina Nsereko Ntale to oversee the implementation of all government economic empowerment programs within Kawempe division such as Emyooga, PDM, the women Grow project and youth livelihood programs among others.

Madinah who made a humble contribution towards the event, used the opportunity as a presidential appointee to that effect to lobby for funding support for this SACCO however urged them to get organized and focus their energies on fighting household poverty through teamwork.
